Not much going on with the Sun these days, at least through white light. IT gave me a chance to re-try some Sun photos without sunspots so I know what is going on with my camera, eyepieces, etc. Here is two shots I got.
Moon #2 – 7/24/08
Here is some more shots of the Moon from this morning. Again, the pictures come in two sizes.
Lightning! 07/21/08
A stormy night in Georgia – well, not really, just some lightning. This is my second attempt EVER – unless you count when I was like 16 when Opal came though – to take pictures of lightning. Here are some.
As a note… the storm came later… really nice, heavy thunderstorm!
Big & Little Dipper (Ursa Major & Minor) – Sprewell Bluff – Thomaston, GA (07/01/08)
Big and Little Dipper together, taken with the pictures in the previous post, same camera and settings as well.
Featured on SpaceWeather.com!
I now have had a picture featured on SpaceWeather.com! This is my first formally pictured astrophoto. The picture was taken on June 30, 2008, and it featured Saturn, Mars and the star Regulus in the constellation Leo. The above picture is a photo of the opening page of SpaceWeather.com featuring my photograph – taken so I will not think it was a dream in the morning. My thanks goes out to them!
